FALLing back into routine.

FALLing back into routine.

Mon Sep 25, 2017

As the seasons shift once again, the city's population is restored, school years begin, and the temperature cools, our bodies, minds, and routines make a shift as well. Transitioning from a summer state of mind isn't always the easiest task, so we're chatting with a few instructors to find out how they reorient and refocus from livin' easy in the summer sun, to feeling refreshed and energized in a healthy routine.

Cassidy says...

"The summer months are the most challenging for me to stick to my routine and stay on track - we travel, indulge, and often times find ourselves ready for a reboot by the end. With our wedding just two weeks away, the easiest way for me to get myself back into the groove quickly is cooking at home and sleeping well! Most nights we grill- recently we've been loving flank steak, salmon, and a ton of grilled vegetables. I've also been trying to sweat a little bit extra (#sweatingforthewedding)- so hopping into additional Zengo classes or taking hot yoga classes definitely help the body cleanse!"

Chandler says...

"Fall is my favorite time of year for food, fashion, and fitness. Farmers market harvests with squash and pumpkins, skinny jeans paired with boots and comfy sweaters, long hikes or hopping on an indoor bike... it's the little things that I always look forward to and keep me motivated to stay healthy."

Shannon says...

"Scheduling is key and imperative. I'm becoming more busy at my full-time job, and I have now blocked my calendar during lunch time for a workout to myself. If that doesn't pan out how it's supposed to, (because what does nowadays) I'll set aside some time after work or even at home - maybe get Landon to join in on the bicep curls or jumping jacks - haha!  I'm also trying not to "get down on myself" if a workout is missed. Life happens, and it's CRAZY busy, and if we're lucky to get 30-60 minutes to make ourselves stronger, that is an amazing accomplishment."

Katherine says...

"This season I'm starting to focus on little changes that overall make me feel better day to day. I'm listening to my body more, and focusing on getting stronger. I've recently stopped eating meat (I miss bacon), cut back on drinking a glass of red with dinner (cut back, not cut out - all about moderation!), and started stretching more. Little changes! Life is too short not to feel your best."

Alli says...

"Every time the seasons start to change I think, 'this is my FAVORITE season!' and I look forward to of the unique flavors, foods, and feels for what's to come. I do a lot of cooking and food prep for myself and my nutrition clients, so I get excited about the shift in seasonal produce. My sleep habits always seem to suffer in the long summer days, just from simply trying to take advantage of the light, so now I'm making an effort to be mindful of my routine at the end of each day. We exert SO much energy throughout the day, in our classes, etc., that the practice of easing out of that pace at night is CRUCIAL to surivival. TV goes off, home is clean, computer is away... just a cup of herbal tea, a book, and a big, happy pup curled up in bed."
